Sweat, Scenery & Saving Animals: FitFor45 Tackle HELL & BACK for My Lovely Horse Rescue

Members of Dublin outdoor fitness group FitFor45 are preparing to take on HELL & BACK this June to raise funds for My Lovely Horse Rescue (MLHR), an organisation dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming neglected and abused animals across Ireland.
“We were brought up to love all kinds of animals and treat them right,” says Jack Tuite, founder of FitFor45. “Over the past five or six years, we’ve volunteered with My Lovely Horse Rescue and donated over €10,000. Every day we see animals in need and MLHR is there for them 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. Taking on HELL & BACK is our way of giving back to those who cannot speak for themselves while challenging ourselves as a group.”
From Fitness to Fundraising
FitFor45 offers 45 minute functional fitness sessions for all ages and fitness levels at locations in Ashbourne and Lucan. Its supportive community approach has made the group’s participation in HELL & BACK a shared goal and a chance to reach personal goals while coming together for a cause they care deeply about.
“Everyone in our group, regardless of age or fitness level is motivated by the idea of completing HELL & BACK not just for themselves, but for the animals,” adds Tuite. “Preparing through our regular fitness classes and a six-week running club, we’re excited for the challenge and the solidarity the day brings.”
HELL & BACK, returning to Ireland’s stunning Killruddery Estate, Bray on Saturday 6th June 2026, is widely recognised as the country’s most epic one-day endurance challenge. Participants can choose from 13km and 8km courses tackling rivers, forests, mountains, bogs and purpose-built obstacles all set against jaw-dropping views of Dublin Bay and the surrounding countryside. The event is designed for first-timers and seasoned competitors alike making it an ideal platform for groups, clubs and organisations looking to fundraise for charity.
A Challenge Built for Teams with a Cause
“At HELL & BACK, we’re always delighted when our events can help people give back to charities and their communities,” says Michael McElligott, Commercial Director of HELL & BACK. “It’s fantastic to see groups like FitFor45 challenging themselves on the course while raising funds for causes like My Lovely Horse Rescue. Knowing our events can make a real difference for charities is what makes days like this so special.”
For those considering a similar initiative Jack Tuite offers simple advice, “If you’re sitting on the fence about participating in HELL & BACK for charity, just sign up. It’s an amazing day that builds character, confidence and teamwork and of course there’s of plenty of laughs. Memories are made, friendships are strengthened and at the same time, you’re making a real difference for a great cause.”
