Next week marks the start of phase 2 with your new work out circumference now stretching to a comfortable 20km radius. And if that doesn’t bring a smile to your face, Glencullen Adventure Park, based in the Dublin Mountains,  is finally opening its doors Wednesday June 10th after carrying out months of extensive work to the trails and with the addition of two new highly anticipated trails that have had the MTB rumor mill spinning since April.

Glencullen Adventure Park – The GAP – is Ireland’s leading Mountain Biking Facility, With 16 All Mountain trails, including those new trails, not yet experienced!

The last 3 months has really clipped the freedom we get from going out on our bikes and getting active together. City Slickers have had to stay inside staring at their bikes and even if you are lucky enough to be living in a more rural area there is a sense of guilt uploading your 48km lunch loop to Strava. Lockdown has us all feeling tired, but with restrictions starting to ease there is a lot for mountain bikers to begin to get excited about.

Owner Matthew Davy said: ‘It was really hard for the park during the initial closure. We had been gathering huge momentum and making constant upgrades to the trails and felt like we had really come into our own league as Ireland’s top Mountain Biking Facility, then Covid hit. It set us back but in a very real way it allowed for a bit of breathing space. We began to build again and now with the countdown to re-opening it takes me back to that initial excitement 3 years ago when we first opened in July 2017. I just can’t wait; the customers are going to love it!’

And that’s not all, the lads have been so busy ~paving waves~ through the forest, they still haven’t come up with a name for their newest edition, expected to finish construction Saturday June 13th. There is a competition over on The Gap’s  Facebook page for customers to come up with a trail name https://www.facebook.com/GlencullenAdventurePark/posts/1510809179090679

Glencullen Adventure Park is due to open June 10th with the GAP Kitchen/Café opening for takeout on the outdoor picnic benches.

Said head chef & owner of the Café, Gary Eustace: ‘We encourage road cyclists and hikers to pop in for a coffee or a burger too, the park is a biking & hiking paradise for all!’

Social distancing measures still in place means there is a change to how the uplift will operate. So in response to government restrictions the GAP will be rolling out their new GROUP UPLIFT PASS. Please see below further clarification:

Group Uplift Passes – Starting provisionally June 10th – The GAP will be rolling out new Group Uplift Passes.

Due to the ongoing situation regarding social distancing we have changed our approach to how the uplift operates. This is a temporary measure to be put in place until such a time that the government restrictions are eased.

What this means is the uplift is now only bookable to families or groups that have been cocooning together. Groups of 2-8 people may book half the uplift van for their party. The price for each half of the van is set to be €125 for 3 hours regardless of whether it’s 2 people or 8. For example, to book a group of 4 people the 3 hour slot would cost €31.25 each.

Each uplift van is now kitted out with a protective screen down the middle and a further shield to separate the uplift driver from the customers. Vans and trailers will be wiped down and sanitized after each slot and riders oversee mounting their own bikes on to the trailers and removing them once the van reaches its destination at the top of the hill.
