Irish Sugar Craft Show March 12/13– 313 sugarcrafted fairies travel over 55,033 miles as part of “Away with the Fairies” - World’s largest actual Sugarcraft Collaboration – CityWest, Dublin.

Ireland’s largest Sugarcraft event “Irish Sugar Craft Show” from 12th-13th March in City West Convention Centre in Dublin. Tickets only €10.

Collaborations

And so, they want you to experience  enchanting world of “Away with the Fairies” a collaborative piece from the Celtic Cakers created around the legend of Tristan and Iseult. It is a worldwide collaboration, a first of its kind which has been sponsored by theribbonshack.ie and Saracino.

They will be displaying a life size fairy woodland scene made from chocolate and sugar.  And the stats are amazing, all integrated into a stunning 10 feet x 14 feet display – all made in sugarcraft.

  • 313 Fairies – made by sugarcrafters from all over the world – as far afield as Australia, Abu Dhabi, South Africa, USA, and Europe  – travelling a total of 55,033 miles to get here! 
  • 8,000 Leaves
  • 4,200 Pebbles
  • A tree measuring 8 ft
  • Animals including a Stag, Badger, Fox, Snake
  • 2/3 life size images of Tristan and Iseult
  • The Swan
  • Fairy Bridges and Houses
  • Insects, butterflies and flowers

Another wonderful collaboration featuring at the show is a tribute to 1916 Easter Rising in sugar art – it will incorporate 30 individual pieces created by top sugar artists, proudly sponsored by Decobake and Ice Wise.   

28 Demonstrations
There will be 28 demonstrations over the two day event that you can book into prior to your arrival so that you can learn some of the best kept secrets from the greatest Irish and International sugarcrafters including Karen Keaney (Roses and Bows Cakery), Emma Jayne (Emma Jayne Cake Designs) and Zoe Fox (Sweet Foxylicious Cakes). Also New For 2016 is the Free Demonstrations Theatre where you can pick up some extra tips from top sugarcrafters at work so that you can improve your cake decorating skills.

Competitions
If you are on to a sweet thing - Keep calm and bake on as there will be cake competitions held over the weekend, with 25 different categories covering all levels from novice sugarcrafters to masterclass levels. There will be about 300 cake entries in total and also categories for children. 

Childrens’ Workshops

Cake that! If you have a child that is cake mad or who likes to get creative in the kitchen – bring them along as there is a Children’s Workshop Area where there will be hands-on workshops especially for children. Children under 16 years of age admission is free to the event. Workshops can be booked upon arrival at the show and the cost is a donation of €2 per child payable on the day. The funds raised will go to Aoibheann’s Pink Tie and Temple Street Hospital.

Wedding Cake Showcase – with over 70 Cakes on Display

It’s a date! For all those getting married, you will want to stop by the Wedding Cake Showcase hosted by A Cake for you. There will be lots of cakes at the event for you to see so that you can get an idea of which cake you would like to have on your big day. 

Let them eat cake! So, don’t worry after all that cake business and building up a cake appetite..... There will be a food hall where you can buy some artisan bakes goods including delicious cupcakes and mini tarts.
