Hell & Back Organisers Urge Hopeful Participants to Register Early for Summer Events as February Challenges Sell Out.
The Organisers of Hell & Back, Ireland’s Toughest Mental & Physical Endurance Challenge based in Bray, Co. Wicklow, have urged the public to register early for their May & June events as ‘Hell & Back Winter’ this weekend (18th and 19th of February) has now completely sold out.
Hell & Back is organised by Irish outdoor adventure company, Alive Outside, in the beautiful, natural surroundings of Kilruddery and is the country’s largest and most popular obstacle course run. The course is also home to RTE’S hugely popular show, Ireland’s Fittest Family.
“There is a massive post-covid focus on outdoor activity, health and fitness across all age groups” comments Aidan Walsh, Director of Operations for Alive Outside/Hell & Back “We will have 1000 participants across this weekend’s events, and we expect approximately 10,000 participants over our June and October events!”
Hell & Back participants must complete a 8-13KM trail route crossing rivers and lakes, climbing hills and mountains and crawling through bogs and swamps. To survive, you must conquer all the elements thrown at you, whether that is the temperamental weather conditions, the gruelling natural environment or the torturous man-made obstacles. Summer events include a special Hell & Back Dawn Challenge on the 13th and 14th of May and main challenge events on the 10th of June for adults, families and teens.
Hell & Back participation figures will also come as good news for the hospitality and tourism sectors in the surrounds of Bray and Wicklow with a knock-on boost for businesses over these weekends. A recent participant survey conducted by Hell & Back (October 2022) found that 62% of those asked had travelled from outside the Greater Dublin Area.
So, if you think you are up for Ireland’s toughest endurance challenge, the message from organisers is clear! Register early to avoid disappointment and get ready to go beyond your limits – to Hell and Back!
