Irish choir, Sea of Change, has yet again been invited to formally (and remotely) sing at The EU Beating Cancer Plan in the European Parliament. Two years ago the full Choir went to the EU and sang on World Cancer Day and received a standing ovation from members. You can see the video here here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0MGToe2Tdg. The Choir, managed by Ian Brabazon and Dee Featherstone were finalists in Ireland’s Got Talent 2019, is made up of cancer survivors and their supporters. This is the third time this Choir has been asked to this event to represent cancer and Ireland.
They are also the organisers of the extremely successful Strip and Dip charity event which saw them break Guinness World Records for Largest Skinny Dip in 2018 and largest Online Dip in 2019 in aid of their charity partner, Aoibheann’s Pink Tie, spearheaded by Dee Featherstone. Over €920,000 has been raised to date and a respite house bought in Crumlin with the proceeds.

Created in 2000, World Cancer Day every 4th of February is the global uniting initiative led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). By raising worldwide awareness, improving education and catalysing personal, collective and government action, they work to reimagine a world where millions of preventable cancer deaths are saved and access to life-saving cancer treatment and care is equal for all. Each year, hundreds of activities and events take place around the world, gathering communities, organisations and individuals in schools, businesses, hospitals, marketplaces, parks, community halls, places of worship - in the streets and online - acting as a powerful reminder that we all have a role to play in reducing the global impact of cancer.
Press Notes:
European Commissioner Stella Kyriakides will host a hybrid event entitled “Ensuring equal access to all: Cancer in Women - Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan” on 2 February 2022 to raise awareness of cancer in women and to announce the latest actions under the EU’s Cancer Plan. The event will feature personal testimonials from women affected by cancer, an expert panel discussion on ensuring access to preventative measures, early detection, treatments and care for all, as well as insights into the political responses to address future needs.
The conference will be launched by Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission
