Austria won Best Winter Destination at the Irish Travel Industry Awards which was held last weekend. These Awards are organised by the Irish Travel Agents Association, annually and were presented by Eoghan Corry,Travel Extra, Ireland’s leading travel expert.
All ITAA Travel Agent members are financially approved by the Irish Aviation Authority to trade in Ireland.
This winning category, sponsored by Hurtigruten, was merged this year for both Winter Sun and Winter Ski, and so it was a huge accolade for Austria that the travel agents of Ireland voted Austria as overall Best Winter Destination from Ireland.
Austria has won Best Winter Ski Destination many times in the past, and is the largest destination for Winter Ski from Ireland.
Austrian Ambassador to Ireland, Melitta Schubert, pictured above at the Wilder Kaiser region stand at Holiday World this year said “ we are happy and grateful that Austria – true to its tradition of hospitality and “Gemütlichkeit” - continues to be considered as the best skiing destination in Europe by the Irish Travel agents, and this year the best Winter Destination from Ireland”.
Josef Treml, Austrian Trade Commissioner, Advantage Austria was equally delighted with this achievement, which confirms that Austria is Ireland’s favourite ski destination and he thanked all of the tour operators and travel agents who book holidays to Austria.
